Well in as much as beer has had good exposure then maybe it doesn't matter.
I'm concerned about the fact that real ale does seem to be almost treated as a dirty word in the program. Not because the general public needs to be exposed to the term, but more because the program makes seemed to want to censor it. Seemed to be treated a little like a nerdy product. Perhaps they are right.
I think the only way that they could be fair to all the people they came across, interviewed and had a drink with was to move the goalposts at the end. Everyone they encountered was very enthusiastic and passionate about their products.
I think it should've been real ale/beer, for sure (but then I would as a beer lover!). When was the last time you saw tea growing in the UK?! Oh well, maybe there'll be a GOOD TV series about beer sometime soon!
I do agree with Tim though and it would've seemed unfair to choose just one of the many possible boozes when they encountered so much.

Haha! I didn't see the show tonight but in last week's teaser I could've guessed that he'd say tea! That just bangs in the final nail in the coffin!!
Well in my silly little poll the results were:
Real Ale 7
Just Beer 6
Cider 2
Gin 1
Something else 2
So two people got it right.
Despite my digs at various aspects of the Real Ale world this week, I still think it SHOULD be the drink that speaks for Britain. I like beer.
Does it really matter?
Beer got plenty of exposure!

Aha, so that's what this was about!
