#SaturdayKitchen #Beer

It's been a busy week, and we're nearly round to Saturday again. Our campaign to raise the profile of beer and food matching had gained almost universal support in the beer world and I'm moved by the genuine messages of encouragement from a wide range of people from brewers, beer writers and beer enthusiasts alike.

Tomorrow we will be attempting to flood the SaturdayKitchen hashtag with beer matches for food presented. We would welcome all to join in, suggest beers that might work, discuss and generally show that there is great support for beer in this country.

Please include #SaturdayKitchen and #Beer in your tweets.

In other news, you can listen to me talking about beer and food matching on my local BBC Radio Cumbria breakfast show on Jeff Pickthall's blog.

Awesome idea, Dave.

Hashtags at the ready, by Jove we'll get this trending.

They read calls/texts from viewers at some point to and get the chefs to answer: shall we bombard them with 'What beer goes with x? What about y? And z?'

Well I'm not suggesting which beer, just that they should feature beer. Is that OK?

Tandleman, I think any involvement is good, of course it's OK.

Also try not to suggest specific super rare beers. Keep it simple. Even saying s 'strong porter' is probably outside of most viewers beer knowledge, so saying 'mikkeller 1000IBU' will definately fall on deaf ears!

Neil, I take your point and I think you are right as far a a wider audience is concerned. However, what is important here is a significant volume of involvement. We need a large number of tweets that contain both hashtags and whilst what is in the tweets does matter, having them there at all is what will make this work.

What I'd be afraid of is people failing to tweet because they are worried about getting it wrong.

I'm not sure how well my beer and chocolate bar matching would go down, but don't worry I shall try suggest some good pairings tomorrow! :)

isnt the point about getting it "wrong" the whole misconception about beer matching with food that youd be trying to change as part of this

people eschew beer matching as they think theyll get it wrong or its very easy to get wrong, but beer matches with food , and alot more food types, far more easily than wine does.

and to avoid the unique/obscure entries, Id say stick to whats available in supermarkets (inc M&S/Waitrose) just as they do with the wine.

Is this the list of recipes that they are going to cook?

Discoman, well done, you can have a campaign virtual medal for that.

Not a year's supply of Dark Energy then?
It will be the most enjoyable Saturday Kitchen ever. I hope.

I'm up and at 'em with a match ready for one of the dishes. I wonder how the production team will deal with the bombardment of messages: hopefully they will do the sensible thing and acknowledge them and realise they have to do something about it. If they don't this week then we keep doing it every Sat until they do: a sustained attack!

I'm not on Twitter and don't go for beer and food matching (or wine and food matching for that matter), but anything that gets the beer message across in a positive light is welcome, so I wish you every success.
